Week 1 3/10/14

Week 1 3/10/14

Introduction to Module.

We were briefed on what the expectations were for our dissertation, within the introduction lesson we looked at the aims and objectives of the module and how we should carry out our research.

Dissertation information: the word count for the dissertation should be 4,500 words and should be an investigation and an opinionated piece of text not just descriptive along with this we must keep a journal detailing the process and research experience, which must also be 4,500.

The journal should resemble something like a weekly diary and is to include a write up on what I had achieved and learned, that week, to inform my dissertation.

What did I plan to do?

-       Start my learning journal research right away, looking at ideas that interest me. There is still no set direction yet but I have several ideas and I want to explore each avenue:

o   Relationships between religion and fashion

o   Architecture/ monumental buildings
- cathedrals, churches, chapel

o   Symbols, cross

What did I do?

Because we had to link our final project to our journal and my last project carried a theme of religion I already had some idea of which direction I could take my dissertation research however I was yet to narrow down and pinpoint the exact direction I would take.

I continued to look at various religious imagery constantly thinking of ideas for a possible dissertation question

How did I feel?

I felt excited about the challenge ahead but was also apprehensive as there was nothing concrete and structured.

Did I achieve what I set out to do?

I achieved what I set out to do, I researched the images surrounding fashion and religion.

If not, why not?
all plans met
